The Most Delicious Homemade Burger Patties EVER


Alright, so I know this a big statement, but we literally just made these for dinner and they were the best burger patties I have ever tasted. I love burgers so we have tried LOADS of different patties over the years.

We have had burgers all around the world, from the burgers that started it all, GBK in London, to our most recent fascination with Grill'd or Ze Pickle. I love burgers.

I have never really found a homemade burger pattie that I have liked, and this is probably due to the fact that we bought the pre-made patties at the butcher or supermarket.

We are on a tight budget at the moment, and we also have 3 (going on 4 kids) so the reality is that supermarket patties are too expensive and just don't contain the right amount that we need for the size of our family.

I decided that we needed to just do it and make our own from now on. We just used ingredients that we had in the fridge and pantry already, and it was a really quick and easy meal.

I forgot to take a photo of it - so this is a stock photo - but it doesn't take away from the fact that it was an amazing meal!

We made 10 burger patties from the mix, as I made 4 big ones and 6 smaller ones to accommodate the kids. I was able to freeze 5 ready for the next time we want burgers.

All up - the full burger recipe cost around $10 to make - that's only $1 per pattie!!!

Now this is a Thermomix recipe but you can make it in a food processor - the trick is to make sure the initial ingredients are very finely chopped.

Serve this with chopped and roasted potatoes or frozen chips to get the real burger joint experience!

Ingredients
1 Medium Brown Onion, Quartered
2 Garlic
1 Small Carrot, Roughly chopped
100 grams Tasty Cheese, Roughly Chopped
500 grams Beef Mince
100 grams Panko Bread Crumbs
1 medium Egg
2 Tbs Djion Mustard
1 Large Handful Flat Leaf Parsley
1 tsp Salt (or to taste)
Instructions
  1. Add The Onion, Garlic, Carrot and Cheese to the Thermomix bowl. Chop on Speed 8 for 5 seconds. Scrape bowl down and chop for another 5 seconds.
  2. Add all the other ingredients and blend for 10 seconds/speed 7. Check mixture is combined, if not do another few seconds on speed 7.
  3. Roll mixture into patties and then flatten into burgers. We got 10 patties but I made some smaller for the kids.
  4. Cook in a frying pan or on the BBQ for around 5 minutes each side, depending on the thickness of the burgers. It may be quicker than that.
  5. Serve on rolls with lettce, tomato, red onion and sauces of your choice (we used tomato sauce and mayonaise on ours). But you could really use any garnish you liked or none at all!!
Notes

The kids had no idea there was hidden vegies and herbs in here - the LOVED them and they would usually turn their noses up at anything remotely green.
