Local Mum Feature – Isabelle Rajade
Welcome to our latest local mum feature, each week we profile a Mum of Brisbane, this week it is the lovely Isabelle Rajade (AKA -Brisbane Newborn Photographer).
Where you live in Brisbane and how long you have been here?
I live in Wilston, near the city. I have been in Brisbane for 5 years now.
What’s the best thing about where you live?
It’s quiet, with a lot of parkland, and so close to the city!
How many children do you have?
What do you do?
I am working. In 2013 I started a small business as a high-end photography boutique studio specialising in newborn babies. Isabelle Newborn Photography (a.k.a Brisbane newborn photographer).
What does a typical day look like for you?
My day starts at 6 am. I like to have some quiet time before I wake up my children around the 7 o’clock mark. The next 2 hours are spent helping them get ready for school, and pack their lunch boxes (or order at the tuckshop!).
I then spend my mornings photographing a beautiful family and their newborn baby, either in my home studio or their home (although I don’t photograph everyday), then have a late lunch. Afternoons are spent tidying up the studio, doing a load of laundry, following up with my clients, lab orders, and new enquiries. I sqeeze-in my 30 min workout when I can !
Then it’s pick-up time, from school or after-school care ! and more family time, bath, family dinner, cuddles or chats about the day.
Fave things to do – as a family or by yourself?
Going on a trip to the beach or jump in the pool (I love water so much !)
There are many ! Okay my 2 favourites. Alcove cafe, I love the ambience, it’s nice and cosy, like a little cafe you would find in he South of France, their menu is fabulous and I can just walk there. I also love Harvey’s. Their food is to die for, and I enjoy walking in the James st precinct after my lunch. It’s so relaxing.
Fave Playground or mum and bub activity?
I love New Farm’s playground. The structure in the trees is amazing. Then you can enjoy the park opposite the road with a large grassy area, or walk to the powerhouse. I just love the location. So much in one spot.
What is your best attribute?
I connect very easily with people.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Dark choc 70 %
Most annoying habit?
Fiddling with my nails.
Funniest mum moment?
Watching my son making jokes. This kid is hilarious.
Best piece of Mum advice?
Embrace your life. Stop thinking “perfect / imperfect”.
Have you seen Isabelle’s photography work? It is divine – honestly I am considering having another baby just to get some photos done! You can check her website out here .
